Spanish startup Heura specializes in the production of plant-based chicken and beef. The company has secured millions in funding for the development and marketing of its products. But how good are Heura’s products really? Welcome to the ultimate Heura Review.
Heura chicken is inarguably one of the best plant-based chicken alternatives out there. The texture and taste imitate conventional chicken perfectly. Its fibrous texture, which has relatively low density, allows the Heura chicken to become extremely juicy.Â
The use of olive oil distinguishes the product from other plant-based alternatives. Olive oil is extremely healthy and also more sustainable than coconut or palm oil. Furthermore, the production of Heura Chicken emits over 90% less CO2 than its traditional counterpart.
Heura contains no preservatives, additives, colorants, or GMOs. In addition, it is an excellent source of minerals, vitamin B12, and protein. However, it contains almost 40% less protein than traditional chicken. But this is average for plant-based meat.
Heura sources its ingredients from European crops that do not promote deforestation. However, they do not state the exact countries. A little more transparency would be welcome here.
Furthermore, they claim their products are not organic due to enriching them with vitamin B12. Yet organic vitamin B12 is available. The price is quite steep for €25 per kilogram chicken but nothing unusual in the plant-based sphere. All in all, I would definitely recommend this product due to its taste, texture, and juiciness. It really does taste like chicken.
